She Looks Great in a Bonnet

Brady: "Mommy, did the pioneers walk?"
Me: "Yes Brady, the pioneers walked a lot."
Brady: "Did Darney (his name for my mom) walk with the pioneers?"

The Beginning

We have reached the end of hour one of potty training. Brady is currently sporting his masculine pair of Thomas the Train underwear. He used the potty twice.
Potty training week is not my favorite. An entire week in 15 minute increments has a tendency to go sloooooow.

I Guess the Feeling is Mutual

Me: "Wow, I really need a break! I think I will go to France for a week!"
Sadie: "Mom, why don't you go for a year instead?"

Lookin' Good

I put on a new pair of jeans and a shirt that Sean got me for our upcoming trip out of the country. Brady saw me and said, "Mom, you look so handsome!"
Sadie saw me and said, "Mom, you are so sesky!"

The Lord Does Have a Sense of Humor

I was sitting -alone- on my front porch, hiding from my children. I sent my prayers up towards the beautiful blue sky. I prayed that I would have the strength to go back in the house and deal with my kids who just wouldn't stop fighting and throwing tantrums.
As the last words went through my mind... a loud cry was heard through the front door. My kids were once again screaming at each other.
I had no choice but to laugh.
I may just be taking the car when Sean walks in the door at 8:30 tonight.

Feeling a Little Violent?

Brady to Sadie: "I think you need to fall down the stairs!"

Niiiiiice.

Being Sadie's Mother

I have three children, and each of them has a very fun, and different, personality. If you are a reader of this blog (hi mom!) than you are aware that my Sadie seems to get the most air time. I do use this blog to try to keep things in perspective and to keep a good sense of humor about the goings on at my house.
In recent months I have had many words of advice about how I can change my parenting style to be more effective with Sadie. There have been times that the advice is quite helpful and times that the advice makes me paranoid about being a "good mother". I recently decided that I am Sadie's mom for a reason and I will keep on keeping on.
So, I am going to be perfectly honest here. When my daughter walks past me towards the basement with a big bucket of water I pause and watch her before interceding. When my daughter tells me step by step how to potty train my son, it makes me laugh a little. I find Sadie humorous. I do.
I am so glad that she has such a strong personality and I am always very curious about what is going on in that head of hers. She entertains me daily. She makes me laugh.

Everything?

Bethanie: "Sadie, you have hair on your toe."
Sadie: "Oh! That explains everything!"

Bless That Lovely Yellow School Bus

The school bus came to our neighborhood today! School starts again. Yes, it is early, but the kids got out the Friday before Memorial Day, so I think they are ready. Bethanie started second grade today and Sadie is going to kindergarten!!
Sadie wanted to make sure I got a picture of her new "twinkle toes" on here for posterity.

Our Trip to NY

We spent the last 9 days of summer in NY! Aunt Sarah married Jason on August 6 in the Palmyra, NY temple. She looked gorgeous and we are excited to have Jason Anne as the newest member of our crazy family. The man in charge of the ceremony accidentally gave Jason- Sarah Anne's middle name! I am afraid poor Jason will have to go by that name from here on out.
I think my three kids spent more time running, jumping, digging, skipping, and playing in the last week than they did the entire summer! We came home exhausted, but we enjoyed our time there.

Easy Enough

Bethanie's birthday is in 3 months. She recently made her birthday requests. She would like a book light, some new books... and a roller coaster.

I Am Sick of That Color

Being "Green" is the politically correct cause right now. That is fine, but I have read many articles saying that people are now donating money to "green" causes instead of charities that really need the money. Every time I hear something about being green, which happens to be constantly, I can't help but roll my eyes. (I just make sure that Sadie doesn't receive instruction on "how to".)

Sadie has noticed a lot of ads about being green lately. She has decided to support the cause. We are quizzed daily on scenarios where we can choose to be more earth friendly. Her latest quiz went like this; "Mom, is it more green to buy your shoes at a store, or make them yourself?"

Bethanie and I will be heading to the shoe store this afternoon. Maybe I will leave Sadie with a needle and thread.

Maybe Bethanie Can Help You

We were working on chores and I noticed that Sadie was dawdling along. I asked her to please get back to work. She paused and looked at me for a moment before saying, "Mom, I don't know how to roll my eyes. Can you teach me?"
