He Gets His Way

Brady: "When you were pregnant with Wesley, I wanted a brother and I got a brother. Now you are pregnant with Jolie. I wanted a sister and I get a sister. If you had another baby I would just tell you what I want and that is what you would have!"

Yeah... We won't be finding out if that theory is true.

And It's 4PM

Sean: "Brady, have you been a good boy today?"
Brady: "Yes, dad. I think I have."

Brady: "Yep, I don't think I have done one bad thing today!"

Day #5

For a short time the kids thought they would actually get to go to school today. They were ecstatic! They would be going on a two hour delay, but that is even better; sleep in and go to school. Bonus!

It was not to be. At 5am the phone rang. School was cancelled for a 5th day. Here's hoping Monday finally begins the second half of the school year.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

Everyone always looks forward to winter break from school. The holidays are fun, the break from the alarm clock is great, and there is time to rest up and get ready for a new year.
This school year's winter break turned in to something we didn't plan on. It was scheduled for two full weeks. As of today, we are working on two weeks and four days.
We had a big storm come through this last Sunday with 14 inches of snow and temperatures around -20 + windchill. Those temperatures lasted a couple of days, making the street clean up nearly impossible. Even Sean was home from work on Monday and half of Tuesday, due to weather.
Here we are, on Thursday, wondering if the kids are going to school tomorrow. They really are hoping they do! I have never seen my kids so ready to get back. They were completely disappointed to hear they would not be going today.

We have done a few things to fill our time during this vacation. We took the kids to the Children's Museum before the storm hit. They have played with the neighbors quite a bit, breaking in all of their new Christmas presents. We also have tried a few new recipes. We have made soft pretzels, cookies, chocolate muffins, and I am searching the internet today for another fun treat.

Another great way to keep them occupied has been lots of chores. :) They have been very helpful and are keeping things picked up around here. I don't mind that part!
