Bethanie Was Baptized

Today Bethanie was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bethanie's dad performed the baptism and confirmation. We are so proud of her. It was a lovely program. Bethanie's Grandmothers spoke, her grandfather, Jed, sang, her uncle, Jeff, contributed a video, and various other friends assisted as well.
It was a blessing to be able to watch.

3:10pm

Bethanie says we are not allowed to officially celebrate her birthday until 3:10 this afternoon. I still think I will take a moment to tell you all how much I love my girl.
She is thoughtful, kind, helpful, friendly, funny, beautiful, spiritual, animated, imaginative, competitive, and loving. My husband and I were very blessed to have Bethanie introduce us to the world of parenting.
Happy Birthday, baby girl!

I Feel Like I Am Being Watched

It's a funny thing, when Bethanie yelled, "Mom, there is an eyeball on the ceiling...", I didn't really take her seriously.

This eyeball is located on our vaulted ceiling. I guess it will be watching us for a while.

I Do What I Can

My back went out... again. This is nothing new for my family. Just something that happens. Some very sweet people from church brought over dinner.
Tonight my children were enjoying their meal. Sadie said, "Mom, this is SO good! I am so glad you hurt your back so someone would bring us this food."

All Aboard!

On Saturday we took a trip to a train station. Brady was extremely excited, but made sure to take it all very seriously. We were able to take a train ride to a campground, a hay ride to a "pumpkin patch", have each of the kids pick out a pumpkin, and then back the way we came. The view from the train consisted of many boarded up houses, a junk yard, and a city dump. Sean and I couldn't help but chuckle. Brady loved every minute, which made it worth every penny.

It's Probably Warmer Too

The other day Sean told me that with the weather getting cooler he "needed" some new long sleeve shirts for work. I told him I "needed" some new sweaters.
He replied, "But I wear clothes every day!"

Good point. Maybe I should try that. : P

Sadie Trained

Brady just counted to three at me in a mocking tone, complete with his finger wagging.
What did I do to deserve this?

Olympic Diver

Bethanie decided to dive head first off of her top bunk bed on Monday night. She severely sprained both her left elbow and wrist. We are happy to get away with just a sling.
Apparently she did a small flip before hitting the ground, hands first.
Sadie gave the dive a 10. I am going to give Bethanie a gold medal for not breaking her neck and ground her forever for playing around on her bed. :)

Evil. Pure Evil.

Play-Doh. Yes, it has a lot great qualities. Hours of creative entertainment. Yet, at this moment, I can't help but loathe it. In the deep down depths of my soul, I loathe it.

This is just a snippet of the girl's bedroom carpet AFTER they cleaned it up.
(No, I did not know they snuck play-doh in to their room to play with it.)

RAWR.

Lost

Brady's "pacey" was lost three days ago. Well, as far as he knows. This household is now a pacey free zone. We might have to send him to an addiction recovery meeting. We are experiencing some psychological trauma.
Add that to the list of things he will be seeing a shrink about when he gets older.

Having Compassion

There is a lot of political turmoil right now as the country fights back and forth about gays and marriage. I am not going to go off on my political stand point of this issue. What I am going to say is that there needs to be more compassion and understanding for what these people deal with daily. There is a lot of hurt and loneliness. Maybe having a deeper understanding of their pain will help us to be more patient and loving. They do not have a disease. Your child is not going to catch anything from them. Generally, these people are very thoughtful and loving, because they know what it feels like to be different.

I found this blog very thought provoking;

I applaud this man's courage as he shares his journey. It is worth reading.

Please Pass Mom the Calories

Bethanie: "Mom, can I have your clothes when you grow out of them?"

Stop. Drop. And Roll

We were recently talking about baptism with Bethanie. We talked about baptism by water and then afterwards is the "baptism by fire" where she receives the holy ghost.

Bethanie commented, "Is there anyway I can have the fire first, then the water?"

Life's Big Questions

Bethanie: "That is a creepy looking bug."
Sadie: "Hey! God made that bug."
Brady: "Who's God?"
Sean: "I guess we are due for another Family Home Evening Lesson."

Pepper

Pepper Ann is a Shih Poo. She is 8 weeks old. She is adorable and doesn't sleep at all at night. She joined our family this last Saturday.

Happy Compass Lumpus Day

Dad: "Sadie, what did you learn about in school today?"
Sadie: "Eh, something about a guy named Compass Lumpus."
Dad: "Um, would that be Christopher Columbus?"
Sadie: "Yeah, that guy."

Is That All You're Taking?

Brady ran away. He was half way down the street in his pajamas, clutching his blankie, when I figured out he was gone. He was mad at me. I wouldn't let him have marshmallows for breakfast.

The Memory Game

Sadie: "Mom, you wouldn't believe what kids can do."
Mom: "Sadie, would you believe that I was a kid once?"
Sadie: "Oh I believe it, but that was a long, long time ago. There is no way you can remember that."

Fundraiser

Sadie was asking me about my plans for the day. She wanted an extensive list. I mentioned that her dad and I were going to "watch the stock" today, because we may be trying to sell stock to get some money. She thought that was a fantastic idea. She said she wanted to have a lemonade stand today to help. Then she asked me who I thought would make more money.
I truly hope that her dad and I are able to make more, but at this point I am unsure.

Didn't You Lose a Tooth?

Sadie lost a tooth this last Tuesday. I could post a picture, but my kids lost the card that I use to transfer photos (AGAIN!) and you wouldn't be able to see a tooth missing anyway. Sadie's permanent tooth got really excited and popped up before the baby tooth was even loose. Sadie had two rows of teeth for a few weeks there. She was my little shark. :)
