It's the Age

Sadie. Oh, Sadie. (Shaking my head... again.)

I hate to be one of *those* moms... "My child is gifted, you see..." (As I look down my nose at your less gifted child.)
BUT- If you haven't noticed, Sadie is a little advanced in her speech for a child her age.
This can be a real problem. She says things to people. She absolutely LOVES to talk to adults. She likes to say THINGS to adults.
Occasionally an adult will tell me the things that she is saying.
Apparently, yesterday she told our neighbor that our family was having problems with diarrhea.
I know we all have stories like that. Kids always say things that embarrass us.

The thing that makes me really nervous is that my sweet little neighbor said that Sadie has been telling her lots of things, but then wouldn't tell me what she said.

Oh, man.....

Listen to the Rythm of the Falling Rain...

After almost losing what is left of my mind, we finally just went through with it. Yes, I know I did it all wrong, but Brady slept in his crib for the very first time in his life on Sunday night.
He screamed for a couple of hours throughout the night, but we made it through. Last night he screamed for about 30 minutes total throughout the night.
Right now he is napping in his crib.
Sean has a cd going in Brady's room with the sound of rain. I can hear it over the moniter. It has been raining in our house for a few days now...I love it. :)

Spiritual Giant

Sadie has decided that she is done with primary. Unfortunately, she hasn't even made it past Sunbeams.
Yesterday she was throwing a fit for the third week in a row about going. Sean asked her why she didn't want to go.
She said, "Primary is boring!"
(This kid is in trouble if she has lost interest and she is going to sunbeams!!)
Sean told her that she needs to go and learn about Jesus. That is what He would want.
Sadie said, "I already know everything about Jesus."

I guess we should put her in charge of our FHE lessons more often. Maybe she can give us a deeper perspective on things. :)

Let's Ponder That

Sadie:
You know mom, that's a real possibility!

(For the three readers of my blog, let me remind you that Sadie is THREE!!)

Sigh

Bethanie:
Ohhh, It's been a long life!

Break Down Averted

This morning I told Sean I was seconds away from having a nervous breakdown. Brady has gone back to waking up every 2 hours at night for the last month and I am exhausted!
Being the good husband that he is, he decided to lighten the mood a bit. He started playing/wrestling with the kids. We were laughing pretty hard at some of the things that were said.

Sean took Bethanie's precious bear, Dah, and was holding him ransom. Bethanie said, "No! Take me instead!"
Now that's unselfish love for a bear. :)

Sadie kept telling Sean it was her "sponsibility" to take care of this situation. Finally, Sean asked her what sponsibility meant. She looked right at him and said,
"Sponsibility means that everyone is better than you!"

Sean must be quite famous if they made a whole word to describe where he stands in this life. :)

There was a lot of tickling, a lot of giggling, and a lot of smiles.
Now how do I get this kid to SLEEP??!!

It's Time For Animaniacs!

I guess I never matured past the age of 14. Ok, maybe I made it to 15.
I still look back fondly at my time spent on the couch after school with my brother, Shaun, and my sister, Kimberly. Chad and Jeffrey would be sitting inches from the television. (We would yell at them every 15 seconds to move.)
We would sit and laugh at Animaniacs. (Click on word for fun video!)

That is why I couldn't help but buy the 5 disc dvd compilation when I walked past it the other day at Costco. My kids and I have been having fun giggling at the one liners for the last couple of days. (The ones that they understand. )

Yes, I still enjoy a good cartoon!

1/2 the Calories!

Sadie:
Mom, Did you know that the water that comes out of the refrigerator and the "fresh water" (aka. Ice Mountain Water Dispenser) is diet water?
Yep. I have been drinking diet water. I am on a diet!

Showing Off My Muscles

This morning Sadie and I took a little trip down to our food storage room in the basement to retrieve a new jar of peanut butter.

Sadie: Mom, can you hold this peanut butter? It is REALLY heavy.
I took the peanut butter.
Sadie: WHOA! MOM! You are SOOOO STRONG! That is a really heavy jar of peanut butter! Wow! You are almost as strong as daddy! I can't believe it!

(It was a 3 lb jar of peanut butter. Those are pretty big. ;) )

Give, Oh Give, Give, Oh Give!

This is the song that Sadie was singing at the dinner table.

"Give Sadie a little bit of ice cream, give oh give, give oh give. Give Sadie a little bit of ice cream, cause I ate some soup so give... me some ice cream!"

That was to the tune of "Give, Said the Little Stream", in case anyone was unsure.

Mommy Super Powers

Sadie would like to know how grown ups know what she is doing even if they aren't looking at her. :)

Lounging

My three kids were all lounging together on the floor this morning. I had to take a picture.

Mother Dearest

Bethanie just told me she wished that Sadie was her mother instead of me because Sadie wouldn't make her finish her lunch.
Sadie decided that little request was enough for her. She has declared it to be so.

I Told Dad and He Got It

This morning Sadie was CLIMBING up the refrigerator. I told her to stop climbing up MY refrigerator because she was going to break it. She let me know that it was her refrigerator too.
I informed her that everything in the house belonged to me and her father and we just let her use all of this stuff.
She said,
"Mom, that is just not how it works."
I disagreed with her. She said,
"Last night I told dad that wasn't how it worked and he listened to me."

Either her dad is more of a push over or he is more mature than I am and doesn't argue with a three year old. :)

On the Way to Church

Bethanie:
Mom, I only know one line of this song, so I am just going to sing the one line over and over and over, ok?

Full

Sadie:
Mom, I just can't eat that much! I only have one mouth!

Do I Sound Like That?

Once again, there is proof that Sadie is listening and absorbing everything that we do and say.
Yesterday she locked the bathroom door AGAIN and shut it as she was leaving. This is a new phase she is going through. She is constantly locking doors. These doors at my parent's house seem to be slightly more difficult to actually unlock. It took us about a half hour yesterday to get the dumb door open.
I sent Sadie to sit on the couch until we could get it figured out.
After sitting on the couch for about 10 minutes I walked past her. She was stretched out and looking lazy. She asked me if she could get up. When I told her no she said,
"Oh, for the love!"
She used that little phrase about 8 times after that yesterday.
