Feeling Rebellious
Today Brady looked on while his little friend screamed out that her fingers were smashed in a drawer. She screamed for him to help her and he did nothing. Her mother soon intervened. When Brady was asked why he didn't help his friend get her fingers out of the drawer, he replied; "I didn't want to do the right thing."

Give Me Five
Me: "Brady, why are you spanking yourself?"
Brady: "I am not spanking myself. I am giving my butt a high five."

I Have Needs
I am sick. Stomach flu sick. I dragged myself downstairs, made a stop at the bathroom, and finally ended up on the couch.
A few minutes later Brady came over to me and said, "Walk yourself right off that couch. I need stuff!"

That's "Grilled"
Me: "Brady, would you like a grilled cheese sandwich?"
Brady: "No. I want a boy cheese sandwich."
Me: "No, honey, that's GRILLed."

Don't Worry, They Are Safety Scissors
Sadie: "Who let dad have scissors?"
Me: "I did, but I am watching him carefully."
Sean: "Don't give me paste though, I still eat it."

I Salute You
Sadie has always been prone to spills. Some of them have been pretty bad. Every morning for the last year I have made my non-breakfast eating kids a breakfast shake. Sadie has spilled hers on several occasions. The chocolatey breakfast mess is really fun to clean up.
This morning she out did herself. I came upstairs from the basement to find a small puddle of her shake on the floor. No big deal. It was the shake that splattered 4 feet in to the front hallway (carpet), all over the wall of the kitchen, and about 4 feet of splatters on the kitchen ceiling that I found impressive.
That girl has a gift.

Last Night
This morning Bethanie and Sadie ran right up to me and announced that LAST NIGHT Bethanie's hair turned brown.
Bethanie was VERY blonde when she was little. I was also very blonde when I was little, as was my own mother. I always assumed her hair would eventually be dark as well. I have to admit that when she didn't have dark hair by 5, like I did, I did wonder if it would happen.
It still isn't as dark as mine was by 5, but over the last couple of months it has gotten darker. Apparently my girls didn't notice until this morning.

Reaction
My niece was born. Before yesterday I had the only kids on my side of the family. Now, I have a niece!
My kids were reacting to the picture that I showed them of tiny baby Payton, who was born 8 weeks early.
Brady asked if Payton got out of Aunt McCall's tummy like he got out of his bed.
Bethanie was trying to make sense of all of the information. How does a baby come early if the dr just cuts a mom's tummy open? (That lead to some interesting conversations that had Sean chuckling in the next room!)
Sadie immediately noticed the umbilical cord in the picture I showed them and nearly passed out and threw up everywhere. After explaining what it was she was almost livid. I don't think she will ever get over the fact that she too had one of those on her at one time in her life.
Umbilical cord or not, that baby is gorgeous. At 4lbs 2 ounces, and 8 weeks early, she is doing better than we could have expected. Continued prayers for our tiny baby Payton!

Persuasion
Brady has recently been testing his powers of persuasion. Yesterday he came up to me with tears running down his face and told me that he needed a treat. I took the opportunity of having him standing in one place to wipe his lunch off of his face.
That was when he got really mad. "Mom! Don't wipe the cry-ness off of my face! I need it there!"

That is Something I Probably Should Have Known
Brady: "Mom, I think dad used to wear make-up and dress like a girl."

Lightning- Ka-Chow
We had an 8 hour long lightning and thunder storm a few nights ago. It went from 9:30pm until about 4am. For an hour around 2am it was the kind of lightning storm where the thunder hits at the exact same moment and it seems like pure daylight flooding in.
That same night happened to be Brady's very first night in his "big boy bed". (Hey! The crib was still working for me!) I was really surprised that Brady didn't come running in to my room. He didn't make a sound!
The next morning the girls were talking about the storm and asked Brady if he heard it. He told them that the storm tried to come in to his room, so he pulled "Lightning and Mator" (his CARS comforter) over his head so it wouldn't get him.

I Had My Suspicions
If I haven't mentioned before, my husband is a scientist. I have always suspected that he would qualify as a nerd. He would be considered a very cute nerd, but a nerd, nonetheless.
He just proved his case. He has a birthday coming up. I just got an email from him telling me what he wanted for his birthday. Wow, it is going to be an exciting one this year!
If your husband is also a nerd, you should know there is free shipping on this book through Amazon. He will be so excited. (eyes rolling)
