That Sounds Painful

We have been visiting with Sean's grandparents. They have been reading my blog. Last night Grandma told me that she had a story that I just had to add on here.
One night her sister's grand daughter came in to her parent's room and said that she just couldn't sleep. Her bum hurt and she was pretty sure that she had "Asteroids".

That sounds sooo much more uncomfortable than hemorrhoids.

Meant to Be

Sadie: "Mom, I am getting married. (Points to the ring on her finger.)
Me: "Oh, can I meet the guy first?"
Sadie: "Yes, it is a boy from my class. Actually he is my boyfriend."
Me: "I didn't know you had a boyfriend, does he know he is your boyfriend?"
Sadie: "No, I haven't told him yet, but I like to look at him."

Because of Christmas Day

We are Christian, and we love the holiday season. We are grateful for the gifts and blessings that our Savior has given us.
I am grateful for this "season of the spirit" when a person can tangibly feel love and kindness all around. I am grateful that because of the birth a baby, the example of the man, and the sacrifices that one man made, I can have something to strive for, and mercy to allow for my mistakes.
Merry Christmas from our family!

Something Like That

Sean has been busy in his "workshop" this week, making presents for the family for Christmas. I told the girls that they have a very loving and wonderful father. They should try hard to find husbands who are just like him.
Sadie said, "Mom, will you tell me if the guy I choose is a good one?"
I laughed and said, "Yeah, I am sure I will. I will say, "don't marry that guy, he's a CREEP!""
Sadie: "and then I will say, "But I love him!""

Santa

Sean: "Brady, did you like talking to Santa last night?"
Brady: "Yup, he gave me this. (Holding up candy cane.)
Sean: "Did you tell him you wanted a choo-choo train?"
Brady: "Yup"
Sean: "Do you want to see Santa again?"
Brady, "No, I'm good."

*Warning*- This is Disgusting :)

Sean and I are pretty sure what we saw today could win some kind of award. This is just one more thing to add to the list of "Why You Shouldn't Use Bunk Beds".
Last night Bethanie threw up in her sleep. Because she was only semi-conscious she said she knew in her head that the best course of action was not to head for the exit, but towards the wall.

Sean and I woke up to Sadie running in to our bedroom screaming that there was barf dripping on to her bed.
It was a fun morning. Sean cleaned it all up.

As a side note- to all of you single ladies who think you have found *the man for you*... make sure he will clean up barf. :)

Gift Exchange

Brady has a little friend who is three months younger than he is. These two sat in their carriers next to each other when they were babies. They are best buddies.
He decided that he really needed to get her a present. It was so cute to watch him get excited about giving! He helped to wrap the present, and the second she walked in the door he yelled; "Isabelle, you have to come open your necklace!!"

He was completely ecstatic to give his little friend a necklace for Christmas, and very grateful for the cute jar of candy that she brought to him. He has been carrying his "present" around with him everywhere.

We Un-Slinked the Underwear

Sadie got a slinky from a friend for Christmas. This was a very special gift for her, and apparently she kept it close to her so that Brady could not get to it. Somehow it got caught in the pair of underwear... that she happened to be wearing at the time. It took us two days to get that slinky separated from that pair of underwear, (yes, she took them off).
Over the course of those two days Sadie asked repeatedly when we were going to "Un-Slink" her underwear. In the end we had to use scissors. The underwear ended up being a casualty.
(The slinky will never be the same either.)

A Conversation at Our House

Sean: "Kids, I have bad news. I am really sorry, but Grandma got run over by a reindeer."

Bethanie: "I have bad news too, dad. I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus."

Poor, Poor Santa

Sadie on Sunday: "Mom, I want a snow globe more than anything in the whole world. I want it to have our family living in a little house."

Sadie on Monday: "Mom, I have decided I want Santa to bring me a jamming guitar. You can sing and play the guitar and I know I would be great at it."

Sadie on Tuesday: "Mom, what I really want Santa to bring me is a slinky. I have never wanted anything more than a slinky. I know it will be so great to play with it for a few days."

Sadie on Wednesday: "Remember how I said I wanted a slinky? I don't. I really need a Little Kitty gumball machine. I have to have that."

She is going to sit on Santa's lap on Friday at our church Christmas party. I wonder what she will want that day.

Perfection At Age 2

Brady: "Deedah, I have to show you my picture that I made. I colored it and cut it. I used a pink marker. It's perfect."

Who's Idea Was That?

I'm not quite sure who thought this was a good idea... but I was called to be the Young Women's President at church a few weeks ago. Yeah, that shook my testimony a bit. ;)
I just wanted to share what my first counselor, (and friend extraordinaire), and I came up with for the Christmas gifts this year for the young women.

Do You REALLY Want to Know??

Brady came running in to our room this morning while Sean and I were still avoiding getting out of bed and facing the day. He crawled up on to our bed and on top of Sean. He looked at him quizzically and said,
"What do you guys DO in here??"

Santa is Very Demanding

We told Brady that Santa doesn't bring choo-choo trains to little boys who go pee pee in their pants.
-Over two weeks and he hasn't had a potty accident.
"Is Santa bringing me a choo-choo train now, mom?"

We told Brady that Santa doesn't bring choo-choo trains to little boys who hit their sisters and don't share their toys.
He looks very concerned.

In Between the Potty Breaks

We drove downtown to see the lights a couple of weeks ago. We got there and took a potty break, got some dinner, walked over to see the lights, and promptly ran back to the potty for another potty break.
At least we got a few snapshots in between. :)

Delegating or Micro Managing?

Brady: "Mom, will you please peel my orange? I will tell you how to do it."

I Didn't Sleep At All

Sadie: "I didn't sleep at all last night."
Me: "Why?"
Sadie: "I stayed up all night talking to a picture of Bethanie."

I Don't Make This Stuff Up

Brady has gone a week and a half without any potty accidents. I am ecstatic, and hope it sticks.
Today he happened to be sitting on the potty working extra hard to go. As soon as he finished up he yelled, "Mom! My work in here is done!"

Is It the Full Moon Kind?

Children are weird. It's not just my kids. I have seen many kids brave the cold without a coat. My kids think it's some kind of punishment when I insist they wear coats in 25 degree weather.
The other night our family was venturing out in to the cold, snowy, 27 degree night, and Sadie insisted that she was going to wear sandals. I did manage to get my way on that one.
We arrived at our destination and hopped out of the car. Sadie was once again without her coat. When I asked her where her coat was, she replied, "Mom! I am a wolf! I don't get cold!"
