Name That Tune

This morning Sadie was singing at the top of her lungs,
"I work hard for my mommy. So hard for her, honey! I work hard for my mommy so you better treat me right!"

Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day

Sadie came downstairs yesterday morning in an Indian head dress.
Bethanie and Brady were already busy eating breakfast so I asked Sadie what she wanted.
She looked at me like I was born yesterday and said,
"MOM! I am an Indian! Of course I will be eating fish for breakfast."

I Can Spell

Sadie was yelling for assistance yesterday. Sean went to see what the problem was. She was out of toilet paper. Sean was putting some on the roll when Sadie said,

"Dad, I know how to spell 'Out of toilet paper'"

"P-U"

I have no idea where she gets this stuff.

Kickin' Our Trash

Wanna lesson in humility? Come to our house and play against my 6 year old on our Wii fit! Bethanie has most of the high scores listed on the games. I am not just talking about 1st place, I am talking about 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th.... She has cleared the board on a few of the games.
So if anyone is interested in some good competition, head over to our house. Bethanie will show you how it's done!

What Not to Wear

Close friends and family are very aware of Sadie's issue with clothing. She is very particular. She does have sensitive skin, but she has gotten looney about it. She insists that dresses "itch her". She will wear skirts and shirts (sometimes), but she WILL NOT wear a dress.
She doesn't have much of a problem with clothes on any other day of the week. It is only on Sundays when we want her to look nice and we are in a hurry.
Sadie is also very fashion conscious. I have tried to appeal to her sense of fashion on many occasions. This doesn't work.
Today I found the cutest dresses online that I thought Bethanie and Sadie would love. Sadie took one look and said NO WAY!!
It just kills me... kills me.

Brady's First Haircut

Brady had his first haircut today! It was starting to hang down in to his eyes. I waited until after I got his one year pictures.
I sat him down on Jeff's lap and gave him some juice and a cracker. He did as well as could be expected.
I was surprised to find that his hair on top seems to be more curly than it was before the cut!

A Sigh Of Relief

Sadie is a good girl. She is very head strong and wants to do things her way, but she is a good girl. That being said, I am always a little bit nervous when people say, "Oh, I have to tell you what Sadie said!" Or what she did... either one.

Sean and I were a ltitle bit nervous about the parent/teacher conference at the preschool yesterday. Yes, I realize it is preschool. I wasn't nervous about being told that she is behind on her abc's. I wasn't nervous about her not knowing her colors. I wasn't even nervous about hearing that she hits the other kids. Sadie doesn't do stuff like that. Nope, she is much more crafty.

I breathed an audible sigh of relief when the two teachers told me that sometimes she doesn't want to do things, but she does do them. I was relieved when they said that she is respectful.
She does like to frequently mention that she doesn't care for circle time. A fact that I was aware of. But they said that she still will sit and listen like she is supposed to.

One conference down, at least 18 more years of them to go. :P

Pancake Art

While my parents were here they got this stuff called "Batter Blaster". My mom was making pancakes when she asked me to take over. I had too much fun. I couldn't help myself. I started to make pancake art!
The can looks like a pressurized can of whipped cream, but it is pancake batter. It can also be made in to waffles.

(We are not being paid to endorse this product. ;> )

(Jeff ate a quick pancake before heading out to a stake dance. We don't usually dress formally for a pancake dinner. :D )

Moses, Moses, Moses...

Does anyone remember that line from the 8 hour movie, "Ten Commandments"? That is a quote that for some reason my family thinks is funny.
"Oh Moses, Moses, Moses", in that sultry voice.
That has been running through my head for the last three days.
A couple of days ago my brother turned on the movie, "The Prince of Egypt" for the girls. I got home from running errands with my mom and Sadie was sobbing. She clung to me with all of the strength a 4 year old can.
She was crying because of the scene where Moses is put in to the basket and sent down the river. I have to admit, that scene always gets to me. However, the movie was almost over at this point and many other things had happened.
Sadie was still crying about it two hours later.
The next morning Sadie came downstairs and immediately started crying again.
I asked her what was wrong. Her response?
"Moses! Moses! Moses!"

Brady is a year old today! He is my little sweetheart. He is a very good baby boy and we love seeing his little smiling face around our house.
Happy Birthday, Brady Calvin!

That Seems Reasonable

Last night Bethanie crawled in to bed with us at 4am. She said she had a dream that she was at a "cook out" with friends. A witch walked in to the back yard.
Bethanie woke up. She slept with us the rest of the night.

This morning Sadie was sitting at the table eating breakfast. She started to scream.
"Mom! I am too scared to eat! I am too scared to eat!"
Me:"Sadie, what are you afraid of?"
Sadie: "The fridge is going to eat me!!"

True Story

Bethanie sang;
"When my mother calls me,
quickly I'll obey.
Cause mother knows just what is best,
each and every day."

Sadie sang;
"When I call myself,
quickly I'll obey.
Cause MYSELF KNOWS WHAT IS BEST!
Each and every day!"

I was looking through pictures this morning and thought I would post a few fun ones. They are all about the same age!

My Date With Sadie

As I have said before, about once a month Sean and I each take one of the girls and go on a "date". They get one on one time with one of their parents.
Sadie and I ran some errands together on Saturday and then went and got lunch.
I used the time while we ate to catch up. :)
The hour was filled with many chuckles. Here is a run-down of our conversation;

Me: "Sadie, what are you learning about in school right now?"
Sadie: "Um, we talk a lot about families. We also talk about how God loves all of us. They said that God loves me."
Me: "Do you think that God loves you?"
Sadie:"Yes, He loves me." (matter of factly)
...one minute passes while we chew...
Sadie:"Mom, who is God?"

Me: "Sadie, what makes you happy?"
Sadie: "I will tell you what makes me happy in preschool. My friend Emily. When we get together, the fun never ends."
Me: "Wow, she must be a great friend."
Sadie: "Yeah, but circle time is boring. They make us sit and listen. That is boring. Just like sacrament meeting. That is also boring. Parents like boring stuff, but kids don't."

Sadie: "Mom, why do parents have kids? Is it because they are bored and need company?"
Me: "Sure, I guess that could be one reason."
Sadie: "Hmmmm... (looking at a big family that just walked in)
Those parents wanted a lot of company."
