Even the Tooth Fairy Has Bad Days

Sean and I couldn't help but feel AWFUL when we found Bethanie in tears this morning because the tooth fairy didn't come.
I mean, of course it wasn't our fault, but we knew she was disappointed.
We were very happy when we found out that she snuck in to the house around 7:30am after we were all awake. We aren't quite sure how we missed her, but she managed to take Bethanie's tooth and leave a note and money on the kitchen counter without being seen.
I guess the poor tooth fairy never gets a day off. Her note said she was working a little more slowly than usual due to having a cold. ;)

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Actually, it's April, but that doesn't stop Sadie from writing Santa a quick note with an update on her list for December. Just for good measure she added a dollar bill. I didn't realize that Santa took bribes. Hmmm...

That Must Be Pretty Bad

I Have a Problem

I got a great pair of new shoes; comfortable, cute, not expensive. I was so excited about these shoes! That is not my problem. My problem is that Brady also thinks that they are a great pair of shoes. The second that he saw them he took off his "Diego shoes" and put my shoes on. They are now HIS shoes. He even asked me if he could go play outside in them. I told him he couldn't because he would get them muddy. Somehow this made sense to him. I am not quite sure how to get them back.
When Sean walked in the door from work Brady ran up to him and said, "Daddy! Look at my new shoes!"

Coming Clean

Sadie: "As long as I have been alive I have been lying to you guys... I don't really have an imaginary friend."

At Least He's Polite

Brady is going through his "No" phase. I don't know how it happened, but somehow every "no" is followed by a "Thank you".
Brady, would you like this?
"No, thank you"
Brady, can you please come here?
"No, thank you"
Brady, it's time for bed.
"No, thank you!"

A Rogue Ten Year Old

Last weekend Sean had the "privilege" of driving the three children, by himself, from St George to North Salt Lake in my brother's BMW. Of course he wanted to be extra careful to not bring any destruction to this car. As they were driving peacefully (ha!) along, the car window was suddenly struck with a large rock, leaving a quarter sized break in the glass. Tragic.
My husband was less than thrilled with the prospect of telling my brother about his window. I believe that Sadie sensed this and prepared herself to take action. In order to protect her father from the supposed fury that would come upon him, she quickly developed a story and ran straight to Shaun with it the moment she saw him.
"It was a ten year old, Shaun. When we were in Beaver a ten year old threw a very big rock at the window. It was an angry ten year old."
Somehow Uncle Shaun has found it in his heart to forgive this ten year old.

Making the Move

On Friday night the whole clan went out to eat. Our large group of twelve was squeezed in to a little section of the restaurant that we were at. Across from us was a little family with a little blonde girl that looked about Brady's age.
Brady informed Sean early on that he wanted to kiss the little girl. As soon as he got the chance, he did. He climbed down and planted one right on the little girl's face.
I don't think the little girl's father expected boys to start chasing his daughter so soon.

Zhu Zhu Pets

The Easter Bunny brought zhu zhu pets for the kids. Sadie entertained everyone with her celebratory dance when she saw them.
Bethanie got a white pet. She was less than thrilled with the given name of "Chunk". She changed it to "snowball".
Brady named his pet "cow".

Using Her New Knowledge

With Easter coming up, Sadie has had a lot of questions about the atonement and the crucifixion. I used the parable of the bicycle yesterday morning to try to explain to her how the atonement works.
- A little girl wants to buy a bike, works hard and saves all of her money for a long period of time, and is still far from having enough to pay for the bike. Her dad steps in and pays the rest.-
I could tell that Sadie really grasped the concept by the questions and comments she made during our discussion.
This morning, she decided to use her new found knowledge.
"Mom, I think I am going to save all of the money I can to buy a zhu zhu pet. You can step in and pay for the rest."

Ok, Hurry It Up Though

Sadie, Brady, and I were recently crammed in to a 3 1/2 foot by 2 foot space for nearly 4 hours. Good times.
Let me remind my readers that Brady is TWO. He just turned two last month. He is still in diapers, carries around a blankey, and sucks on a pacey. (Go ahead, judge me.)
About half way through our journey Brady decided he was done. He started trying to escape our little cell. I was doing everything in my power to hold him back. From beneath my feet he said, "Mom, I be right back. I have to go to the baffroom."
