Sadie's Birthday Week!

Sean went out of town this last week. Because of that, we decided to wait to have Sadie's birthday cake until he got home. On her birthday she opened her presents, enjoyed a lunch of taco bell at school along with a visit from mom, Wesley, and Darney, and chose to skip cross country practice.
On Friday she had a couple of friends over for a couple of hours to play.
Today she will enjoy her cake with the family.
Although she didn't get her accordion paper file, she did get a hula hoop, king size reese peanut butter pack, and remote control helicopter. She was one happy girl! Happy 9th!

This Sadie cake request included a chocolate cake, vanilla pudding and pretzel filling, salted caramel frosting, pirouette cookies, and oreos. Completed with a gumpaste red bellied toad.

Great Way to Spend a Birthday!

The kids had their first official cross country race yesterday. I am so very proud of how hard they have worked. I know it isn't easy for them, but they still do their best. It is such a great feeling to watch them cross that finish line. I love it!

They managed to come home without any sideburns, although I think there were a couple of side aches.

A Hairy Situation

Bethanie: "I don't think I should eat anything before my next race, because when I do I get sideburns."
Me: "That is really unfortunate."

For the Person Who Has Everything?

Me: "Sadie, what do you want for your birthday?"
Sadie: "I want three things.... I want a king sized reese's peanut butter cup, because you never let me have one."
Me: "Ok"
Sadie: "I want a remote control helicopter."
Me: "Um, ok."
Sadie: "And I want an accordion file."
Me: ????

First Cross Country Meet!

The kids have been going to cross country practices for three nights a week since the end of August. It has kept us very busy, but physically active. :)
Their first meet was this last Saturday. We are so very proud of how hard they have worked and what they have accomplished.
Brady ran a 2k for his meet (1.24 miles). Sadie and Bethanie ran a 3k (1.86 miles).

While temperatures have been in the upper 90s with a high percentage of humidity, we woke up to 40 degrees on the day of the meet. It ended up being perfect to run in, but quite a shock at first.

Not a Morning Person

7:00am
Me: (In a sing-song voice) "Sadie Hannah! It's time to get up and get ready for school!"
Sadie: (With her eyes closed) "Mom"
Me: "yes"
Sadie: "Don't sing."
