Makes Me Smile

My kids made me smile this morning. Brady is getting older and a little less fragile now. He will be 4 months old in about a week. He also seems to be healthier now.
I have started to be a little less militant about the girls playing with the baby. They can hold him if they sit on the floor.
This morning my three little children laid on the living room floor, with Brady in the middle, and played together.
It was so much fun to watch Brady smiling so big at his sisters while they talked to him. They really had a little bonding moment!
I am very grateful for my three sweet children.

Super Mad

Sadie was sent straight to bed a little early on Sunday night. She was told she wasn't allowed to get off of her bed.
Here are a few Sadie quotes that came from that fun little moment;

"I am super mad at you, mom. I am very, very super mad at you. I am up to the ceiling, up to the roof, up to the sky, up to heaven, and infinity mad you!"

"Come and move my bed over there so I can spank you!"

"I am going to give you cwon-se-kwences for doing this, mom!"

"I wish my arms were very long so I could take my stuff back!"
(Her books were taken away.)

"You aren't going to spank this bum of mine!"

"I am the boss of this house. I make the choices here!"

California Girl

The other day Bethanie was asking me about where I was born. She declared that I was a California girl and she and Sadie were Rochester princesses.
Then she asked me,
"Mom, do they speak English in California?"
I answered, "Yes, wait, no...Um, mostly..." :)

Go Speed Racer

Yesterday Sean and I took the girls to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We drove around the track for Community Day.
I never really knew anything about the Indy 500, but I have learned! I think the cars are pretty cool. It was actually pretty interesting to drive around the track and see all of the skid marks and big dents in the walls on the side. Did you know they drive faster than 200 miles per hour??
Bethanie had already been once to the track on a preschool field trip, so this was nothing new to her. She was actually filling us in on some of the details of the race. Sadie on the other hand, was a different story. She covered her eyes around the curves.
I can understand that. We were going 10 miles per hour in our mini-van. :P

The Big Day

Tonight is Bethanie's preschool graduation program. Over breakfast this morning I heard Bethanie telling Sadie,
"Ok, this is my big day! Everyone has to be really happy."

Do You Smell Something?

Sadie just asked me if they could take a bath this year. I told her that was a good idea.

A Big Family

Yesterday we drove by a Rolls Royce limousine. Bethanie said, "Look! That car is for a really big family!"

Cookies

I woke up after only a few hours of sleep last night and had a massive headache. This morning has been pretty chaotic. Sadie asked me if she could have mini vanilla sandwich cookies for a snack this morning. I told her that was fine, as long as she shared them with me. :)
I couldn't help but notice what was written on the back of the cookie bag;

Don't make several trips to the cookie jar. Empty it the first time.
Chew your cookie at least once.
Never share.
NEver put off until tomorrow what you can snack on today.
Snack only between meals.
Never share.
Change your cookie hiding place at least twice per week. (That was my favorite.)
Never share.
Cookies taste better when eaten under the covers.
Never share.

Those are good rules to live by.

On a side note, Sadie informed me this morning that we are moving. She is pretty adamant about it. She said we have to move to Candy Land... That's fine. Go find some boxes.

He Laughed!

Ok, so it was a tiny little giggle. It was so very cute. I knew Brady was going to start laughing soon. Today was the first time. It is so fun no matter your first child or third.

What We Did Today

This is what I was busy doing today. (It was a little exhausting.)
The lady gave us a cd to take home with 123 pictures. I chose a few to share. :)

I also continued working on my big project for the week. I have a wedding cake due on Saturday. There should be a picture on my cake site at the end of the week.

It's True

Yesterday Sadie was helping Brady "think like Winnie the Pooh". She was basically taking his hand and tapping his forehead for him. This, of course, annoyed Brady. I asked Sadie to stop.
Sadie told me that she was helping Brady think. I told Sadie that Brady could think without her. She said that babies can't think without their big sisters. She knew it was true.
She said, "I promise, I heard that somewhere! Babies can't think without big sisters."

I bet my siblings think that I believe that they can't think without their big sister. lol

Mother's Day

Let me first start out by saying that I totally adore my mother. There is no better mother than mine. I never doubted for a single day that I was loved. That is something that I want my children to feel as well.

I was also very blessed to marry a man with a wonderful mother. I have a great mother in law. It isn't every woman that can say that!

My Mother's Day yesterday was superb! The day started off with Sean and the girls making me crepe for breakfast. They were so fabulous. I had a ham and cheese crepe first, then Sean made me a crepe filled with strawberries, blueberries, sour cream, and brown sugar. He LIGHTLY drizzled dark chocolate syrup over the top and put a dollop of cool whip on the side. WHOA! It was so wonderful.

My family gave me pictures, cards, a book, and a framed picture of the Timpanogos Temple that is beautiful.
We went to church and I couldn't help but cry when my kids sang their songs for the mothers with the primary. Bethanie asked me every day last week if it was Sunday yet, because she was so excited to sing to me. I felt very loved and very blessed as Bethanie and Sadie beamed at me from the front of the chapel.

We came home and Sean impressed me again with his culinary skills! He made Balsamic glazed pork chops, homemade mashed garlic potatoes, bakes asparagus with Parmesan, and a side salad.
The meal was topped off with an ice cream cake from Cold Stone. Oh, it was good!
I didn't think the day could get any better, but Sean drew a hot bath for me in our huge garden bath tub and I soaked for a while.

I am such a blessed mommy!

Seven Years

Today Sean and I are celebrating 7 years of marriage. I could not have found a more perfect fit for my personality than Sean. He knows me better than I know myself.
He is very supportive and encouraging when it comes to my interests. He has also worked very hard to ensure that he could provide for his family by making the sacrifices and getting through grad school to get his PhD. Sean is a great dad as well!
I am very blessed and grateful to be married to Sean. He's my superman!

Now you have had your fill of cheese for the day. :)

Show and Tell

On Fridays Bethanie has Show and Tell at Pre-school.
Today I reminded her that she had show and tell and asked her to pick something out. Do you know what she picked? A can of corn. You read that right.
Do you know WHY she picked a can of corn? Because she wanted to go and tell all of the kids how important it is to have food storage.
That is one of those times when you realize that by example you are teaching your kids.
Sean took the girls and bought shelves for our food storage room. The girls have been watching us stock the shelves.
I am very proud of Bethanie for wanting to share the information that she has with others!

Cuteness and Cookies

My kids are just cute. Too cute. So stinkin' cute. :) My girls made cookies today while I took pictures of the cuteness going on at my house.

Do I Have to Remind YOU?

Today Bethanie and Sadie and I were disagreeing about what you call the article of clothing that girls wear while dancing. My personal opinion is that they are called leotards. Apparently I am old and and I don't know anything at all though.
Sadie said, "Mom, I am going to ask you one more time. What is the thing called that Bethanie is wearing right now?"
"A leotard."
"Mom, do I need to remind you that we don't lie at our house?"

So now I am old, dumb, and a liar. :) I still say it is called a leotard. Hmph!

Because I'm Young

Bethanie was just jiggling my upper arm.
"Mommy, why does your arm jiggle like that when I push on it? My arm doesn't jiggle like that."
Bethanie came to the conclusion that my arms jiggle and hers do not because I am old and she is young.
I think I am going to go and do three push ups and see if that helps. :)

Spaghetti and Peanut Butter

There are those nights when dinner time rolls around and I am just so tired.
Sean is at late meetings at work and eating with co-workers.

When I asked the girls what they wanted for dinner they told me that they wanted spaghetti and peanut butter. So that is what they ate. Spaghetti with or without the sauce from a jar, and peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

They are going to bed with food in their tummies and they are happy. :)

OK

No, my kids aren't perfect. Bethanie came downstairs sobbing. It was that loud sob that screams, "MOM- I want you to hear me crying so that my sister will get in trouble!"
She told me that Sadie threw a car at her head.
Nice.
Sadie got a time out.
Sadie finished her time out and I told the girls to go back to cleaning their room.
Five minutes later Sadie comes down crying because Bethanie threw some toys at her head.
Huh?!?

I told Bethanie that they were not going to get a Family Home Evening treat tonight because I was tired of the fighting.
She left sobbing like I had just sentenced her to a night of torture.
Sadie asked Bethanie why she was crying. Bethanie barely choked out the words,
"Mom (sob, sob) said that we (sob, sob) can't have a Family Home Evening treat."
She basically falls to the ground.

What did Sadie say???

"Hmmmmm... I am fine with that."

Grumpy

I am feeling pretty crummy today. My throat is sore, my head hurts, and I am just plain exhausted. Sean has meetings all morning on Sundays and Bethanie said she wasn't feeling well, so I just decided that the kids and I were staying home from church today.
I guess my patience has been a little thin today. :/ As we were eating lunch Sadie said, "Gee mom, you sure are mad at me this week!"

That is one of those eye opening, bad mom, kind of moments. :P

Here is a cute picture of my kids from a few days ago when I wasn't being mad at Sadie. :) (Yes, they did need haircuts, they got them the next day.)

What's In A Name

This morning I heard Sean tell the girls that he was the boss.
He said, "As a matter of fact, I would like you to start referring to me as "boss man"."
He then ammended that and said, "No, call me "Dr. boss man".
He ammended that one last time, "No, call me "Dr, President, boss man".
(He was recently called as Elders Quorum President at church.)

I wonder if he would like me to change what I call him as well. I could call him "honey, dr, president, boss man".
Whatever makes him feel important. :)

Laying It On Thick

This morning Sadie told me that I was "perfect".
It is about time someone agreed with me. ;)
