Bethanie wrote two poems in class that I would like to share. The first is a haiku;
Flowers grow outside
They have sweet nectar in them
bees buzz around them
The second is an acrostic poem;
Fantastic
Accomplish, achievements
Make Mistakes
Imagine
Love
Yell .. (That one is my personal favorite. : P)

Got Milk?
I do a babysitting swap with my friend. She has a lactose intolerant child. A couple of her kids requested a glass of "cow's milk". My friend said that Brady got a funny look on his face.
She chuckled and asked Brady if he wanted soy milk or cow's milk. He looked at her and thought hard before asking; "Can I just have boy milk?"

I'll Read You a Passage
Brady just read me an excerpt from the Portuguese to English dictionary.
It went like this;
"One day Jesus, God, and their other brother went with their mom to the senior center to play."
Really. He said senior center. Where did he get that? Ha!

Walk, Power Walk
My kids were home for the holiday this week. It was rainy and they were stuck inside. I busted out the Leslie Sansone "Walk" workout, and the 4 of us started walking our way to exhaustion. (My fingers were crossed and my hopes were high.)
Half way through the dvd, Bethanie remarked, "Leslie is just so walk-ward".
I could not have put it better myself.

You Are Embarrassing Me, Mom
After a busy couple of weeks I was happy to discover nothing on my calendar for Friday. My house was in need of a few spring cleaning type projects. I threw on some sweats and prepared to get to work.
Brady: "Mom, can you please get dressed?"
Me: "Why do I need to get dressed? I am going to do some cleaning."
Brady: "Mom! You need to get dressed. It is the day now!"

Me: "What are brave pants?"
Brady: "Brave pants have zippers!"

If We Took a Holiday
I was feeling quite "retro" the other night and had the radio blasting an 80's, 90's station while driving the kids home from swimming lessons. I am pretty sure they were all thoroughly annoyed with me, but I was having a good time.
Madonna's "Holiday" song came on, and I was singing at the top of my lungs. (In order to be even more annoying.)
Brady asked, "What is she saying?"
I told him it was about taking a vacation, a holiday.
He replied, while rolling his eyes, "Mom, why is she singing about Christmas?? It is NOT Christmas time."

The End of an Era
This has been coming on for some time. Bethanie has officially decided she is too big for a Tinker Bell lunch box. I can't blame her. I bought it when she was in preschool, but it has held up wonderfully and still serves its purpose. Why buy a new one? Because it is absolutely humiliating to bring a Tinker Bell lunch box when you are in the 2nd grade.
I tried to point out that her aunt would happily take that same Tinker Bell lunch box to work with her. Bethanie didn't go for it.
It's over. The Tinker Bell lunch box era is over.

Public Display of Affection
Sadie: "Mom, did you kiss dad on the lips when you got married?"
Me: "Yes."
Sadie: "Do I have to kiss a boy on the lips when I marry him?"
Me: "No. No kissing. It is better if you don't."
Sadie: "Oh, good."
Me: "Yes."

Filing a Complaint
Sadie: "Bethanie is two years older than I am. Bethanie has had two more Christmases than I have had. Mom, you and Santa owe me more presents. That isn't fair."

A Birthday Grump
Brady has spent most of this birthday awake. Because he was born just after 1 am, 3 years ago, I mean that quite literally.
First he woke up at 3am with a "crying dream". Then an hour later he "had a problem, he needed medicine". An hour after that he "had another problem, he needed a drink of water"...
He took a nap for an hour an a half around 6am. He is still deciding if we will be celebrating today.
Either way, today is the third anniversary of his birth. He is still obsessed with trains, loves firetrucks, and most recently, monster trucks. He is currently engaged to Isabelle. Right now they are planning on living in his bedroom. Isabelle's mom insists that she be potty trained first. He loves her enough to wait.
Grumpy or not, we are still glad he is part of our family, (although the tantrum he is throwing right now has me leaning towards the "not").

He's a Fan
Brady: "Mom, do we get to drink soda when we watch football?"
Mom: "Yes."
Brady: "I like football."

Every Time is Like the First Time
This is Brady watching his most favorite DVD that he has seen a million and one times;
Those train cartoons can be really scary sometimes.

If That Is What You Really Want
Brady: "PLEASE MOM, PLEASE!"
Me: "Please what?"
Brady: "Please can I help Bethanie and Sadie clean their room?"
Me: "Be my guest!"
Brady: "YAY! Brady to the rescue!"
