Hurry Santa!

I think the suspense is killing Brady. He asked me today how many more days there were until Christmas.  I told him that there were 6. That was too long for him to wait, so he decided to take matters in to his own hands.
He took the numbers off of the advent calendar and hid them. He says that Santa has to come now!

For Your Resume

Brady: "Mom, why do big sisters and big brothers go to school?"
Me: "So they can learn! Daddy went to school for a long time and now he has a very good job and he can take care of his family."
Brady: "So, am I going to preschool so that I can get a good job?"

Eating Spaghetti

Brady and I were eating leftover spaghetti for lunch. As I was eating I heard him talking himself through the process of the loading up of his fork.
Brady: "First you wrap the fork in the squeezy spaghetti blanket... (turning fork)..
then you stick it in your mouth!"

Elf on the Shelf

For my birthday my mother in law got me an "Elf on the Shelf" kit. The entire concept of the elf watching the kids and reporting back to Santa Claus was being explained to my children.
Sadie was quite bothered by the whole thing. She said, "I think I want to rip that elf in to little pieces so he can't tell Santa anything."
I suggested that Santa might notice that he has gone missing, and that the other option would be to just be good for the month of December.
I think she is still mulling over her options.

Hunter vs. Gatherer

Brady: "Dad, next year we should go out and kill our own turkey before we eat it for Thanksgiving."
Sean: "Brady, I think I prefer to go and get my turkey from the store."

New Recipe

Today Brady made me a special treat. He made me a "new recipe". He even prepared the recipe for me and watched while I ate.
It goes like this;
One banana, sliced
One large handful of grated cheddar cheese
3/4 cup of cold water

Mix the above ingredients together and watch while mom enjoys!

Burrrr

After an unsuccessful rescue attempt of the neighbor's cat, Sadie came away completely covered in burrs from head to toe. Her beautiful hair, which happens to reach half way down her back, was in a crazy matted pile of twigs on the top of her head. There were hundreds of burrs in her hair. I was sure that poor kid was going to have to get her hair chopped off.

It took a whole lot of conditioner, a few fervent prayers, and a tiny comb, before I was able to get her hair clear of the burrs with an hour and a half of combing. Her dad spent an hour and a half picking burrs off of her shirt, shoes, and pants that she was wearing during this dangerous rescue.
We have requested that Sadie please stay away from all cats in the future. This is not the first time that she has tried to save that same cat, and she never comes away unscathed!
